Sex Education Advisory Board Members 2023-2026 - Per 9/26/23 BOE Meeting
- The Sex Education Advisory Board (SEAB) is a district-wide advisory committee tasked with the review and recommendation of sex education curriculum. At the last meeting, the SEAB recommended unanimously the inclusion of a series of lessons from the Body Safety Training curriculum in the lower elementary buildings in Saline. The goal of this curriculum is to teach students about various types of safety, including body safety, as a means of reducing the risk of sexual abuse against young children. In accordance with state law, the SEAB is holding 2 public hearings to present their recommendations to the community before presentation to the Board of Education for consideration and approval. https://www.salineschools.org/pub/news/posts/2823
- Michigan law requires school districts to form an advisory board for sex education. In September, the Saline Sex Education Advisory Board approved the Body Safety for Children Program for use in elementary schools. The program is offered through the Washtenaw Area Council For Children.
